World-forgotten is the idyllic Gipperalpe with its weather tanned alpine huts and the small chapel. Only rarely do skiers touring up here leave their tracks in the untouched powder snow. This is one of the reasons why the wild animals of the National Park feel so comfortable in winter! The ideal destination of our National Park wildlife safari!

The observation of chamois and deer in the winter national park is an extraordinary nature experience, which requires a great deal of caution. Because the last thing we want is an unnecessary disturbance of the game, which needs all the energy reserves to get through the cold season.

It is therefore a matter of honour that Lodge boss Hannes Pichler leads this tour himself. Hannes' love for nature was inherited from his ancestors: his grandfather was the main initiator for the reinstatement of the wild boar, while his father is now chairman of the stone game preserve community, which together with the national park management protects and cares for the wild boar at the Grossglockner.

First we take the National Park Lodge Shuttle over the serpentines of the "Alte Glocknerstraße" up to the Gipperalm, where the snowshoe tour begins. Through the snow-covered forest it goes higher up to the best observation points, where the chance to observe the wildlife of the national park is greatest. The tour has no fixed route in the midst of the winterly splendour: it depends on the snow conditions and the observation possibilities. However, the final stop at the "Hohe Wand" mountain inn, where you can warm up and exchange what you have just experienced.

Program:

• 9.00 am: Meeting point at the Pionier Bar; brief introduction by Into the Wild Guide Hannes; afterwards equipment rental at INTERSPORT Grossglockner

• approx. 9.15 am: Ascent with the National Park Lodge Shuttle to the starting point of the wildlife safari

• Start of the wildlife safari at the "Hohe Wand" mountain inn

• approx. 1.00 pm: end of the wildlife safari; stop at the mountain inn "Hohe Wand".

• Shuttle service to the National Park Lodge Großglockner
