The alpine village of the Apriacher Almen combines all the attributes of a true "winter wonderland" in winter! Ancient, weather tanned alpine huts, light larch forests and a fantastic panoramic view of the Grossglockner and many other 3,000 m peaks of the national park.

This makes the Apriacher Almen the ideal destination for our Into the Wild snowshoe hike for connoisseurs: starting from the idyllic mountain village of Apriach, the route takes you on gently sloping, snow-covered paths through the famous larch meadows up to the fairytale alpine village of the Apriacher Almen.

Up here, the view is almost limitless and ranges from the majestic Grossglockner to dozens of three thousand metre peaks in the wild heart of the national park, the Schobergruppe.

It's hard for us to break away from this view, but the warmth in the cosy Dorner Hütte, where a hearty snack is waiting for us. After the stopover, you can go back to Apriach with your snowshoes or, if the conditions allow it, go downhill with the sledges in a hurry!

Program:

• 9.00 am: Meeting point at the Pionier Bar; brief introduction by the Into the Wild Guide; afterwards equipment rental at INTERSPORT Pichler

• approx. 9.15 am: Ascent with the National Park Lodge Shuttle to the starting point of the snowshoe tour in Apriach

• Start of the snowshoe tour

• approx. 12.00: Refreshment in the rustic alpine hut with hearty snack

• approx. 14.00: Sledge ride down to Apriach

• Shuttle service to the National Park Lodge Großglockner
