The two proud three-thousand-metre peaks Spielmann (3,027m) and Racherin (3,092m) owe their names to the legend of the Pasterzen glacier. Today, the two neighbouring mountains are high above the mighty ice stream of the Pasterze and, directly opposite the Grossglockner, represent the ideal entrance into the world of alpine mountaineering.

Whoever is touched by the magic of the high mountains will have wondered: "Can I make it to the summit of the Grossglockner?" A question that can best be answered with a preparatory tour to one of the more than 3,000m high neighbouring peaks of Austria's highest mountain. The National Park Lodge team has worked out this impressive Into the Wild day trip!

Racherin (3,092 m): on this lonely tour you start directly at the Grossglockner high alpine road, at the small waterfall at the Fensterbach. There are no markings here, but Hannes knows the cattle and game paths, which lead higher and higher - first through a sea of flowers, later on over boulders and rocks. The tour is consistently steep. But the effort is worthwhile: upstairs, at the small summit cross a breathtaking panorama opens up!

Program:

• 8.00 am: Meeting point at the Pionier Bar; brief introduction by the Into the Wild Guide; 
• drive up with the National Park Lodge Shuttle via the Grossglockner High Alpine Road to the starting point of the tour
• Start of expedition 3,000 on Racherin
• approx. 15.30 - end of the tour; transfer to Heiligenblut

Equipment check the evening before in the Pioneer Bar.
